While Credit Card Reform is being widely accepted in most venues, thanks to Sen. Coburn from Oklahoma, I find a fundamental flaw in the logic that congress has to regulate any sort of trade. I would like for a moment to examine the idea of "The Invisible Hand" and go a step further than Adam Smith. I believe that in order for his economic ideas to prosper, they must be bestowed on a moral and responsible people. These people cannot remain idle while their monetary resources are stripped from them little by little.
The Federal legislators have done the job that the people should have done all along. The idea of the "Invisible Hand" states that the consumer and consumer practices would dictate the path of the Economy and the types of businesses that are allowed to flourish. This latest bill now prohibits retroactive interest rate hikes and targeting college students without parental consent.
However, these practices and other predatory processes that the new law prohibits (being that it was signed only hours ago) should never have been common place. If this law had been passed with Adam Smith's theories in mind they would simply allow for the nonpayment of such erroneous fees without legal recourse for the offending company.
Receiving a bill with charges unincured by the consumer would mandate that the consumer lodge a complain and demand that the charges be removed, when they are not, the bill will go unpaid and the consumer would take his or her business elsewhere. This type of action repeated over time would either drive the irreputable companies out of business or force them to follow a moral business model to keep from bankruptcy.
I use for example title and payday loan privateers, while many owners of such enterprise have made thousands while praying on unsuspecting customers who had fallen on hard times, here in the Marion and Polk counties of Oregon they have become extinct. There is simply no business for them here due to the lack of consumers ignorant enough to do business with them. Here as in any places reputation is what drives commerce, a bad repute will drive a business off the cliff within a few short years.
This however would not resolve predatory "phishing" a practice that uses the unknowing consumers ignorance to extract fees that were agreed to. This can only be solved thru fiscal education. There is only one point the government should regulate concerning college students and credit card companies; They should require a curriculum approved by the school board that educates high school and college students on budgeting and financial responsibility. This would also open the door for small business to sell their curriculum to the school districts.
While I happily concede that this bill was a great victory for our second amendment rights, I can only hope that bills of that nature will pass without being slipped between sheets of paper to hope that they go generally unnoticed or that others will sign the bill to avoid political downfall.
I write so that the general public may be informed and take hold of our country.

A Step in the Right Direction-Bring Back My Second Ammendment
The House and Senate have passed a bill set to regulate credit card comapnies in the form of preventing retroactive interest rate hikes,late-fee traps;unreasonable gift card fees, phishing for college students without parental consent, and other unfair practices. This bill was passed strongly by both parties in a bipartisan effort to curb the preditory practices of credit card companies.
Exciting as this may be(note the sarcasm), the greater victory in legislation is not credit card reform, written into the bill was a affirmation of our second amendment freedoms added buy Sen. Tom Coburn. While not as large as would do the amendment justice, the bill assures Gun Rights Activists that not all is lost. This is hopefully the first in many steps that the House and Senate repulicans take to win back the rights of the people and reaffirm their conservative values. I pray this is an effort by the Republican party, not to win votes but to encapsel the american majority under the original moral code that the GOP seems to have lost in years past.
This afternoon the president is expected to sign the bill, enabling law abiding citizens to carry their concealed weapons in national parks. This repeal of unnecessary gun regulation comes as sigh of relief in this communist bound government.

A Liars Liar/Step Down Sen. Pelosi
We have grown to have a class system in these United States. There are those who belive themselves a class above the rest, those who belive themselves to be smarter, richer, and greater than the average citizen. However, these men and women seem to have one common flaw. It has become acceptable for them to mislead and lie to the american people.
Thier justification, is not national security, not the keeping of some great secrect from our enemies. They lie to keep thier power. They lie to propagate thier own agenda. They lie and say its what is best for the american people, when even they know all that will be accomplished is thier prolonged political success.
Chief among these supposed "elites" is Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. I have a bone to pick with this Senator From California. As a prior member of the Armed Forces I feel somewhat akin to the CIA operatives working and fighting to protect this nation. The differences between the job I fulfilled and the hardship they face every day is the much higher level of sacrifice that is required from them. If I had been killed in action I would have recieved honors and more attention than the majority of deaths in this world. Should one of these great mean and women be killed they recieve a star, not a medal, not a grand funeral, an unamed, unmarked star stamped in a book that few know exist, The CIA Book of honor.
The operatives in the CIA know this, they accept this, they love thier country and are willing to make the sacrifices that they must, so that we can live our lives the way we want and so Sen. Pelosi can maintain the office she holds so dearly.
How dare she assail the integrity of our protectors, simply to further her carreer. In the past few months the Senator from California led the chargealong with the President against advanced interrogation techniques. Since then the CIA has released information in an attempt to protect itself, providing that many of the Democrats pushing for prosecution of CIA officials were in fact briefed on the details of waterboarding, and in one instance a Senator asked if "that's it" implying that after being completely educated on waterboarding, it seemed a rarther mild form of persuasion.
Maddam, I expect honesty from public servants, for that is what you are. You have been appionted to do the work of the people. You have been given a position of prestige in order that you could use it that for the peoples good. You misuse your place in government, and you abuse the goodwill of the people of California (who elected you) by comprimising your own integrity.
I suggest you do what any person of character would do: when they have been found in the wrong, they admit thier mistakes and accept thier reprimand. In the case of a superior...THEY STEP DOWN.
You have lost the respect of the people, it is time you did somthing honorable in an attempt to win back thier trust.
